I decided that I wanted some colour in the arm, whereas it didn't look bad as a black and white object, the dumbbell has silver plates so it wouldn't fit together. I created a gradient skin colour for the arm. The gradient was darker on the top and then retained in to the normal skin colour further down along the forearm. This gradient is used to add shading to the image. 04/03/2015

Week 5 DVD Logo
I wanted the fist in the arm sketch to be clenched around a dumbbell, as the whole point of this DVD is food to build muscle with, so it also requires a commitment to lift weights as well as eating healthy. There was minimal reference to this on my DVD cover so I decided to implement it in my logo. I created two circles using the ellipse tool. I then used the 3D effect tool "Extrude and Bevel" on each of the circles to create a sphere shape that would be used as the metal of the dumbbell. I set the rotation around the X axis to 12 degrees, rotation around the Y axis to 90 degrees and rotation around the Z axis to 12 degrees. I used the same angles on each circle. I also created a shaft that connected the two dumbbells together. I used the same 3D effect and I had an excellent looking dumbbell. However when I put this over the fist of my arm. It didn't fit as it looked unrealistic as if it was stuck to the arms hand, I deleted this. I therefore just added a small extension coming from the fist which I used the pen tool to draw a small rectangle and filled it black. Therefore the fist looks like its covering the shaft. 02/03/2015
